Oux Homegrown Residency EP Release: Morgan Gold and SuperKnova

HONEYMOOD EP RELEASE SHOW!

Homegrown Residency at Uncommon Ground is a monthly residency offering a emerging Chicago musicians a fertile bed to plant their roots and grow. Every Tuesday for one month, a new emerging band tests their new material, reveals their ongoing process and are joined by hand picked musical guests.

August's resident is Oux!
Oux is a Chicago based, experimental hip-hop/pop duo influenced by artists like Bjork, Childish Gambino, Frank Ocean and SOPHIE. They released their first single “i sleep skeptical,” in January of 2018, and followed it up with a second single “mosquito bites,” in March of 2018. They began performing live at Chicago house shows and venues in August of 2018 when Natalie moved to Chicago from LA to live with Manae.

$1 out of the cover charge of $10 will be donated to Black and Pink. Black and Pink's mission is to abolish the criminal punishment system and to liberate LGBTQIA2S+ people/people living with HIV who are affected by that system, through advocacy, support, and organizing.

Morgan Gold is a 20-year-old pop/R&B singer/songwriter born in Orange County, CA and raised in Schaumburg, IL. Morgan has been singing and playing guitar since she was 10-years-old and grew up acting and performing in musical theater productions. Her inspirations vary greatly, from Stevie Wonder to The Weeknd to Grateful Dead to Tyler The Creator. Morgan is also influenced by SZA, Frank Ocean, Gabriel Garzon-Montano, Bryce Vine, Dirty Heads, Bob Marley, and the whole genre of Motown/Soul music. She loves writing for multiple genres, but prefers writing pop/R&B music. Morgan is currently attending Columbia College Chicago where she studies comedy. She is very interested in pursuing a music career, while still doing acting and comedy projects on the side. Her goals as an artist include being as versatile as possible in order to appeal to multiple audiences and genres. She wants to pay homage to her heroes that came before her while putting a modern twist on it. She says that her ultimate goal is to win a Grammy!

SuperKnova is a Chicago-based transgender artist who creates Queer Pop, a guitar-based sound that incorporates electronic drums, driving synths, and virtuosic solos. They write about identity, sex, queerness and the struggle of being your authentic self.
